We rent a car to leave the city to go to the mountain, no rental cars have roof bars. I know there are configurations foam block for kayaks and canoes and stuff, I was wondering if anyone ever did with a snowboard and where to buy some of that foam? Can you get in a hardware store or something?

Pathetic ... I looked at your other questions to see where you live. In New York there are few places you can get blocks of kayaking. I do not know with certainty of one.

depends on what vehicle you have and how much rubbish you have with you, I usually just sling my advice to the rear of the truck, foam blocks? sounds like a good idea to stretch your equipment, where to get it is delicate, I would like to try a computer store, they are equipped with foam pads for enormous spinning computers, cell big enough for a board snow.

i seen these systems that have these foam blocks, and those ratchet straps. do you have knowledge of if this would work fine?
i cant afford a $800 trailer plus getting a hitch too.
any idea on how much it would bring in to get the dealer to install roof racks?
what would be the fasted and most EFFECTIVE and non damaging to my vehicle way to get this canoe?

I would personally need to take down the ceiling of my new car and drill holes in it, to put up a roof rack myself, ok no way. I would pay a dealer first, for sure.
and I have never seen a trailer for $150 that could tow a 16foot canoe, i have seen and shopped around for a canoe trailer that was hundreds of dollars, so i am not sure-fire of what kind of trailer you would be refering to that only costs $100. one of wheelbarrow tires and plywood?

Take advantage of an old tire on top first, make sure it doesn't have a rim. Worked great for everyone I knew in Northern Minnesota. I had mine on my car from the first ice out, until refrigerate up again. You don't even have to tie the tire down, it won't move. You do have to tie the canoe down.
