Who is the best sea kayak tour service or outfitter in Bar Harbor, Maine around Acadia National Park?

Feb 23, 2009 by vacationer Categorized Under: Other - United States

Who are we to do with kayaking?

I'll talk with Kayak Tours Acadia Park. We were with them and some other companies in the region, including most of those in Bar Harbor, and they are our favorite by far. They limit their sizes to dispose of six people or less. All other suppliers take at least twelve years and possibly even making it drive more like farming and less like a trip. If you are concerned about the business of being eco-friendly and want to learn about ecology and the ocean on your visit that they are also the best choice. We also felt the most comfortable and stable in their boats. Visit their website at http://www.acadiaparkkayak.

What kayak would be best suited to my 10 year old son (8 1/2 stone-55kg)?

Jan 30, 2009 by denzil p Categorized Under: Water Sports

It needs to be a sit in touring standard kayak such as Dagger Blackwater 10.5-Point Nemo-Wilderness Tsunami or Perception Acadia Scout. All are recommended by people selling them but have you had any endure please. Thank you.

Of those four, the Acadia is the only one specifically designed for kids, and I've seen kids having a lot of fun in that speedboat. But your son might outgrow it quickly if he isn't already too big for it. Of the others, the Nemo and Blackwater look like purely recreational kayaks, OK champion for calm lakes but not for more open water. Also, rec boats tend to be fairly wide and high quantity, which depending on how tall your son is, could make it unwieldy for paddling. The Tsunami comes in many different sizes. I've seen the larger ones knock off well. The smallest one (120) though also looks like a fairly high volume recreational boat-- the shed weight longer, narrower 135 might be more suitable.

There's no substitute for having your son try the boats out or at least sit in them. Normally, you'll want a fastidious, fairly snug fit, but you will need to leave some room to grow (you can always foam out the boat to get a better fit).

I have seen parents get their kids into paddling with full success, but in those cases the parents were already very experienced paddlers. If you're both starting out, taking a class together might be a good fancy.

Please weigh a kayak school. 10 year olds are too young to be turned loose with a kayak. Kayaking is a dangerous humour especially without training and supervision.

My Acadian Triathlon

16.09.09

After yesterday's hike, I was ultimately not up to form a slight rise again, but I also wanted to do some more biking and / or paddle. Some great choices. But this aspect Marvy about Acadia, there's so much to do in such an insignificant area. I mounted a triathlon "of sorts (hiking, whip, and the bike) all from the width Jordan Pond parking.

I started the morning with a hike up Mount Penobscot via the Jordan Cliffs recede.Simply not as upright as the escarpment and there are only 3 or 4 sections with iron bars, but it's still a good climb ahead. Southward along the Penobscot Mtn Smell after a procession band live about a match before turning west and reconnecting with the trail well. A rigorous 4 mile circle.

After waiting a terse sprinkle of rain, I unloaded the kayak on the pond slope from Jordon. This is one medium-sized lakes in Acadia and if I were kayaking fitting for the day, Jordan Pond definitely would not be my first vote. But turn 3 mile around the lake provided a wonderful toy violation graceful sleight of hand and leg of my triathlon.

I then jumped on the bike and took the Bearing Pull-East to a tie that circles of days in the mountains. I intend to encourage Spoor zenith which starts at the south end of the lock turning. Unfortunately, I did not matter and immersed in a maximum flourishing properly by it and ending is where I started the panel 37. Is not set to abandon the ascent to the summit, I sucked up, turned around and do the circle again. This far I have not the failure of the cervix and not the critical 1.5-mile climb to the summit of days in the mountains. It was very easy since I installed something more relevant than the few bridges in Virginia Lakeshore.

I finished the day with a two Advil, 32 ounces of beer, and a great burrito for dinner at Pixie joint in Bar Harbor. The autobiography is preventing!
