What are the advantages of the body of a composite kayak expensive over its plastic counterpart? Is an intermediate paddler who make a big difference in performance? or dissent is more aesthetic? I want to make investments for next season in a high-end composite kayak, but have no access at present to compete with the differences. I also do not want to spend money if its offer unnecessary and custom obvious advantages.

In addition to being lighter and faster reduction than a plastic kayak, boats composite more resistant under normal wear. Plastic boats will crumble more readily in the UV and may be deformed due to a combination of heat and stress in certain points (as in storage or car-topping). Funny generally manage the impact trauma (eg hitting rock) better than fiberglass, which explains why the majority of whitewater boats are tender. However, the composite boats can often be repaired more quickly than plastic.

If you do not go composite think twice before spending more for Kevlar fiber glass.Besides being lighter, Kevlar will not give you much more down on the glass and can actually do to a boat lowest since less material is used.

what is the durability of composite kayaks?

next salt im looking to invest in a all out touring kayak to do a couple of long trips and use at the massive local state lake for good physical condition use. the question is: on the long trips it will be on the great and/or little miami river which can in certain parts get low enough that you can in reality plow hard into large rocks that are just below the surface and impossible to see and manuever around. how damaging are these to the composite fiberglass, kevlar, and half-breed hulls? the manufacturers advertise durability, but im not so sure. im looking at the current designs nomad gts and solstice gts. tender thanks you for any help you can give me.

These are a hard as any you'll find out there...especially the kevlar.
