Does it matter where you sit in a tandem kayak?

I am a little lame. My husband, teenage daughter and I are currently planning to kayak through an outfitter that organizes trips for beginners. They use tandem kayaks. They take pleasure in having the children go with a parent. If I go with my daughter, does it matter who sits in the front or rear of the kayak so I can not paddle that much? Where the stronger person sit or not to be important?

The strong soul of life must sit in the back, that way they can be responsible for steering the kayak as well as keep an eye on the person forward and offer assistance if necessary.

Who makes a Tandem Kayak that can also be paddled solo?

I'm looking for a Tandem Kayak with dwell for gear that could also be easily paddled / handled solo. I'd prefer a sit on top, and it doesn't seem that a sit-in would be able to be configured this way. Any facts would be appreciated. Specifically Make, Model, or website where I can look at them. Thanks in advance!

Tandem kayaks are longer than unaccompanied models. Using such a boat will require more effort and may be cumbersome. Have you paddled a SOT? What kind of gear do you hanker after to carry? Canoe and Kayak magazines carry an annual listing of manufacturers. Is there a boat dealer in your acreage? Visit. You also need consult with other boaters as to their recommendations.

Some manufacturers generate recreational kayaks that can be convertible for solo or tandem use. These have a sliding seat that can be moved to the middle position for unaccompanied paddling. Such kayaks are sit-in, but they have large cockpits for easy entry and exit.

There are also tandem sit-on-tops that the manufacturer claims can be paddled unaccompanied; however, most of these don't appear to have adjustable seats.

Definitely try out any kayak you're considering. Paddle it both tandem and solo. Most kayak shops offer frugal or free demos on boats.
