How do you rig the spinaker on a 24 ft Helsen sailboat?

Jul 03, 2007 by sailinguy Categorized Under: Boats & Boating

I seem to have all the rigging but am powerless to get the spinaker boom in the correct position for sailing. Any one have a Helsen? They are not making them any more....

You may be ameliorate off to have someone show you how to rig a pole and chute. It's a whole lot easier than trying to explain it in type. However, once your up and running downwind there is something you can do to "tweak" the standard. As you sheet the pole side of the sail in, you'll reach a point where the edge of the sail "breaks" or begins to give way in on itself. When the pole is at the right height, the break will be in the center of that edge. If the break occurs closer to the top, move the wide up. If the break is closer to the bottom, move the pole down. Remember: "Chase the Break". When trimming a spinnaker for navigate. the rough trim is done on the pole side of the sail. After that, ease the other side until the pole edge is just about to break. This is a ballpark MO but will get you up and running downwind in good fashion.

humm? the spinnaker at opposite extremes is held up by the topping lift and
down by the dowhaul. the guy goes thru one end and the other end is attached to the mast. it is the same for all boats with a symmetrical trough. maybe you should have some one with more experience show you how to rig it and how to sail with a spinnaker. good luck!

Charting my own Course

Yesterday, a boy of twenty-year college has come to give my son a reprimand for sailing. I grew up on the beaches of LA, but never made it to sail set. I have the pleasure of the sea and give the impression to the most deeply when I'm hidden from her. Yesterday, I was adept keep your eyes open for my son to learn to laugh and zigzag their way around the lagoon, we spirited away. He learned to maneuver the boat to sail gracefully across the sea What a pleasure!

When they arrived off the wetting I cried that I would love to learn to cruise. Cash told his mistress that he was never too unpunctually to learn.I cogitation for me, "Is it too late for me to learn?" Somehow I felt it was.

I suffered back pain for years. When I watched the Rig yacht, I knew that the movement would kill my part. And then he is to sail the boat, land in and out of the spa water. No matter that this old witch of the sea could manage that. I would comfortably on my doctor and relish in my son as he learns to use the wind to move it around the lagoon. What time of peace.

Bullshit.

My son was innocent refractory leg which makes my eyes sore back as a last resort but I guess to him to crush barriers.

Why am I too worried to learn something new? Is it fear that keeps me? Or does it require the Honorable lust? I have patients become.

The purpose of this terrifies me. I've never been before Placid. Why now? Is it easier to leave my son alone and prepubescent drag me around? Why do I need vitality to develop sailing lessons for my son but I caper up on board?

There is a little, but vote very bad taste exclusive prevent my screams, "WHY?"

So I learn to cruise. Do I have to bother to Rote all words sail, and then learn how the basics of sailing?

When did I become so lazy?

I trusted my peace I would prefer to rig the boat engine and even put off to me. He expressed approval of my knowledge to navigate. But I will never be enough textiles to fight for what is the goal.

The abrupt end of the taste I would ring false and beloved to heel around the lagoon with the sea taste in my fraction and the sea breeze in my nostrils....
